Hi to all,

I have a portable vibration detector. I coolect data from motors, pumps, fans etc. I import collected data to trendline program which visualizes velocity and acceleration in time domain and frequency domain (FFT). By using time domain it is very hard to detect fault. Just sinusoidal curves to enough for me to comment. By using FFT, I can catch some peaks at reasonable frequencies for example, must common frequency occurs at rotor frequency. The peak at rotor frequency may be resulted from coupling, unbalance, electrical truoble (@50 Hz - 3000 rpm), poor installation etc. How can I determine the actual fault. Is there any tutorial in the proper sense? Actually, I am a mechanical engineer. Vibrational analysis is beyond my background. Where should I start to learn? I tried to study signal for electronical engineers but it is far different from the my need and too much theory. I would like you to direct me towards truth.

ilearnVibration is an interactive CD Rom based vibration training program. Your manufacturer of the vibration analyzer will also likely offer vibration analysis training.
