Hi,
We are a small oil analysis lab currently using an ancient ARL ICP for our wear metal. We are looking for suggestions on cost/benefits of other types of spectral instruments cabable of simultaneuos analysis of up to 20 wear metals. Currently we are looking at 'arc spark' Spectroil type instruments as they seem to require little or no sample prep and can analyse metal particles up to about 10uM.
Any suggestions on such features as accuracy, dependibility, size, speed, autosampling facilities and service/support would be greatly appreciated.

We use the Spectroil-M, an RDE spectrometer originally designed for the US Airforce/Navy/Army. We run approx 50-200 samples a day and have done so for 10 years. The istrument is accurate and well suited for a small lab like you have I belive. Also we are happy with the support from the instrument supplier (Specto INC).
