Hello All;
Can someone tell me the size of the orfice of a viscometer and how it works? Is there more than one size or does one size fit all when checking the viscosity of oils.

Thanks for your assistance.

Good day,

There are different sizes for different viscosity ranges. We use three different sizes in our visocometer. I do not know the internal diameter to the orifice.

Our viscometer used gravity to measure how long it takes the oil to get from point A to point B. A simple formula is used to turn the time it takes to go from point A to B into viscosity. That is the test in a nut shell. There is quite a bit more to the testing process but, I won't bore you with the details.
