DEAR FRIENDS
HELLO TO EVERY BODY. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK REGARDING RECYCLE BASE OIL. A RECYCLE BASE OIL HAVING THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS AS VIRGIN OIL (IN VISCOSITY, FLASH POINT, NOACK VOLATILITY ETC)GETS OXIDIZE SOONER THAN VIRGIN OIL, WHY? |

RAIHAN. First consider why you buy recycle oils, Lower cost. The cost will come from lower grade of refining, and most likely a lower grade of antioxidant. Send the sample to a full service lab for the answer.

SIR ITS NOT THE MATTER OF LOWER COST, JUST WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE FOR SOONER DEPLETION FOR RECYCLE BASE OIL.
THE GRADE OF REFINING PROCESS FOR RECYCLE BASE OIL IS AS SAME AS CRUDE OIL PROCESS(i.e. CHAIN OF DISTILLATION PROCESS)IN WHICH 99% IMPURITIES HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS IS AS SAME AS THE VIRGIN BASE OIL. FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, THE MOLECULAR CHAIN PRESENT IN RECYCLE BASE OIL GETS OXIDIZED SOON, AS IT WAS ALREADY OXIDIZED BEFORE WHEN IT WAS PURE,THOUGH 99% OF IMPURITIES HAD BEEN REMOVED, BUT STILL SOME %AGE OF OXIDIZED CHAIN (WHICH IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ERADICATE COMPLETELY) IS PRESENT, WHICH ENHANCE IN FURTHER OXIDIZATION. |

Yes you are also correct in the assertion that there are some components, which were not in the original crude oil, which are in the "reclaimed oil" and therefore make it more prone to oxidation. the Variations in "reclaimed" oils make the complete restoration of base oils very difficult.
