Hi all,

What methods are there of getting the TBN values from engine oils?

FTIR - slow, also get other readings/

Titration - slow, How expensive would you estimate this is per sample?

TBN ruler - I know nothing about this - How expensive would you estimate this is per sample?

Any other ways of getting the TBN value?

regards

Andrew

Are you doing the testing in a lab or do you need to test TBN on location? For on location TBN testing I use Dexsil's Titra-Lube test kit's. Prices for these kit's run from $5.20 each in quantities of 20 to $4.04 each for quantities of 800 or more. These kit's use quantitative colorimetric titration as the detection method.
