Does anyone know where the most severe rubbing wear would occur in a Dodge Torque Arm shaft mount gearbox? (bearings or gears?) The ferrography shows a large amount of < 10 micron steel rubbing wear particles, with only a few larger laminar particles. We changed this gearbox out several months ago for the same reason, and when we took it apart, we could see no visible wear on either the bearings or gears. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

Could this be run in wear if its a new gearbox?
Do an oil change to flush out the ferrous wear debris and trend the oil analysis results to determine the wear rate. |
