I am the new oil analysis guy at my plant and I made my first oil filter patch. I flushed my funnel clean with alocohol first and then drew my Mobil 797 oil sample through (about 50 ml) and chased it with the same amount of Toluene.
Should I have not used the Toluene? My patch came out clean - nothing there. It could be that I had no particles too. Thanks, |

Phils,
You may be correct or not, that experts would say. However, toluene will dissolve all the solid material derived from the oil degradation, except, dirt, dust, soot and wear metal particles. |
