While we were recently away our furnace chimney collapsed causing a 'puff back' effect, covering every inch with a layer of soot. The cleaning company cleaned it up and almost all the furniture was scrapped. After 2 weeks there is again a layer of oil(?)which can be felt when running you hand along the (pine log) walls. We have 3 young children and are worried about the health hazard with this situation. Is there a solution ( short of just burning the place down and moving out)?
