SmileHELLO,I HOPE EVERY ONE IS FINE.
I HAVE OLD FTIR AND NEW RECIEVED ONE.
I TEST THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL ADDITIVE IN A ROLLING OIL.
MY STD WERE PREPARED AND WHEN I COMPARED THE RESULTS IN THE TWO FTIR ANALYSIS,I FOUND DIFFRENT RESULTS.
CLOSE RESULTS WERE GIVEN IN THE HIGH ADDITIVE CONCENTRATION RANGE.HOWEVER LOW CONCENTRATION RANGE SHOWED COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VALUES.
CAN ANY ONE HELP ME ABOUT THIS WHY THOSE RESULTS ARE DIFFERENT AND WHAT SHALL I DO NEXT FOR CORRECTION.
THE SAME BaF2 CELL IS USED IN BOTH DEVICES.

MY STD FATTY ALCOHOL IN OIL VALUES ARE 6% TO 10%

Sensitivity and detection limits can vary greatly between instruments, especially among the ones that use different techniques/technologies. That is OK as long as instruments are accurate in the range of the customer interest. If you are looking for accuracy within a wide range, than you should first establish the detection values for your instrument. Your standards should be in the range of those values as well as your quality control check standards (blanks, blank spikes, sample spikes, duplicates and/or triplicates, and check standards from a second source to verify your standards). But first, contact the manufacturer of your new instrument regarding the detection limits and the detection range providing that the analyst(s) followed proper procedures.
