Hi All,
Please, who can advise to me where I can find the official Diesel Oil requirements for railroad diesel by General Motors (GM EMD)?
Thanks,
Mikhail

We have stationary EMD engines in standby power service. Technical Publication M.I. 1760 covers the lube for these units. They reference M.I. 1752 for locomotives so I'd check that also. We use Mobilgard 450 because of the issues with zinc and the silver plated bearings in EMD engines.

rflagg- What limits are you using for silver? We have adjusted ours to .3 ppm because of the large sump.

Does anyone have thermal breakdown data on the Mobilgard 450. We have a fleet of diesels and use the 450 NC, but plants want me to raise the allowable operating temperature of the oil, so I am looking for any analysis which shows when the thermal breadown begin and the effect on other properties relative to temperature. Any ideas where I can find this data?
