thanks for whomever recommend the pcv valve change. I'm going to do it regardless of this post. But My friend told me to see if the pcv valve (or pvc) was still good was to shake it and see if it rattles. is this true?
your time is greatly appreciated |

I have heard that too, but also have heard that it can still be bad even if it rattles. Another thing, I have a Ford and was told by a few sources to only use a Motorcraft PCV valve. But for the price, I guess better just to change it every 10,000 miles or whatever it says in the book.

And your friend may be perfectly correct. I just don't know. I just figure occasional replacement is a safe bet with the low cost.
Now I think there was another test regarding pulling the line (with valve on the end) and then thumbing the valve opening to see if it is pulling vacuum or something like that. I know if "Timer" gets on he will know how to deal with the PCV valve. Might also search the auto maintenance forums at Bobistheoilguy.com for PCV valve. |
