We have been receiving oil analysis results from the lab showing a flash point of 55 Deg for a gas comp seal oil, however when the platform itself does the test the receive a much higher flash point (88). The lab also states that opening the sample is like opening a bottle of fizzy pop.
If the samples are being tested and collected in the same way how can this be possible?

Check if you are using the same methods.
Closed Cup vs. Open Cup.

The open cup method is not recommended for those materials whose flash point is less than 75°c as per the ASTM methods.(ASTM D 92).Also this much difference is not possible.
