Hello

Recently I have tested Lube oil from a Diesel Engine of a powerplant.

The Used oil TBN was : 8.564
New oil TBN: 7.452
Both samples were tested on same day.

Is this possible, I am little confused since I thought New oil TBN should always be higher.
Can any help me.

Both samples are from the same manufacturer batch?
Did the user add some "perform" additives?
