What would cause a grease with a PAO base oil and calcium sulfonate thickener to become like play dough after a few months in service?
Application is a pulp dryer where bearing housing temp is 190 to 200F and roll speed is <100 rpm. |

Have you sent a sample of it out and had a analysis done on it yet?
Could it be contamination of pulp getting into the bearings? What grease are you using and what NGLI rating? |

Hi POS,
Go for Polyurea base grease with refined mineral oil. |

Calcium sulfonate normally has a complex fiber and has low water wash out < 1.5% and can work with 20% moisture .
Please check your seals & use a higher NLGI grade.Hope this helps |
