I think the high end Maxima oils contain a good amount of esters. Realize though that even oils like RL, contain at least 50% or more PAO.

Looks like a typical Amsoil comparison. LOL.
They never test RL, even though they claim they won't test smaller brands. Yet they tested Motul and Maxima???

Thanks for the VOA info.
But, even more thanks for the links. At ~$8 a quart now, I'll have to try both the Ultra and the Extra either full strength, or I just might use it as an 'additive' to my Mobil-1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec, or RotellaT synthetics which really can't be beat when costing ~<$4 a quart(sales/clearance/rebates/coupons).
Currently I'm using Redline oil(advancedauto clearanced) @ 20% treat rate as an oil additive.

Motorbike, I spoke with Maxima today and they said all of their oils are heavily ester based. Both 4 stroke and 2 stoke. He did also say that they use multiple esters in the base oil blend. They do use some PAO to offset seal swell.

The Maxima will be superior to De**ac when used in a motorcycle engine and near overkill for most auto engines . De**ac 5w-40 gets crushed by most bike engines . So does some other M/C specific oils .

Buster ,the Extra is primarily PAO with ester , Ultra is ester with pao .

I'd like to know what is so special about the requirements of the newer VW and Mercedes, and if this Maxima or even De**ac 1 would be OK to use in these applications, even if it's not listed as meeting the manufacturers specs.

I always thought De**ac 1 was the ultimate oil- I'd heard of truckers going 100k miles between changes.
