Sir,
can any one will guide me to read used oil FTIR
as soot is measured in Transmittance% while oxidation, nitration & sulphation measured in Absorbence/cm.
how to know the extent of dueteriation of oil from this data & how to quantify it.
its also observed that when Oxidation or sulphation is increased it tend to reduction in TBN but when Nitration is increased it doesnt have significant effect on TBN or Viscosity.
what is the chemistry behind that.
why soot is measured at 1900 1/cm & 3600 1/cm
Thanks
Sai

I'd suggest you look under some of the discussion threads in oil analysis section.
