I wanted to make a question
Honda suggest for manual transmision systems MTF-II oil. This oil is produced only from HONDA?
What other oils can meet this requirement

Its just a manual transmission fluid.

Try the pennzoil syncromesh, Redline MTL, Neo MTF, Royalpurple syncromax, Amsoil MTF, BG Syncroshift II, Torco MTF, SpecialtyFormulation MTFglide or synchroglide........

The above gear oils fall into the 20wt-30wt thickness that most manufacturers have switched to, after using 40wt(80w90) gear oils for years.

@Undummy: you're now officially a Dummy again.

MTF-II is ABSOLUTELY NOT a standard transmission oil.

Please keep your advice for yourself if you don't know the details. Besides this, the Torco MTF for example has no approval for this!

Yeah, but I think that this Amsoil product listing was more luck than knowledge.

My 'fire' was mentioned not specifically to undummy, but to all visitors here who share their vision on specifications without having the proper knowledge. A lot of people still assume everything they read on the internet is true, so I'm trying to get some quality answers here instead of misinterpretations or sales stories. And this is not the HELP that is desired on this forum (helping someone to ruin their equipment).

Amsoil has this product which approves both, but this is certainly not common. Its absolutely wrong to assume that specifications with subsequent suffixes are automatically retrospective.

I am going to agree with you that for all of us should be important to know are we enough knowledgeable in particular areas to help anyone else. On the other side nobody can avoid to be subjective in making that qualification. Because of that mistakes sometimes happen. Not malevolent ones usually, but still mistakes. If I were in “helped ones” position I would check advice thoroughly passing through “pro and contra” mainly because of widening my point of view and that would be the best defense against “ruining equipment”.

Regarding Amsoil and their claims I hope that you do not think that Amsoil specialists claim replacements (around) just because of fun. If it were like that I would call them magicians. Why? It is simply impossible to have remarkable reputation like Amsoil fooling around customers and competition for 34 years.

No I do not claim that Amsoil are magicians. I know exactly how the world of approvals work, as I deal with almost every oilcompany on this planet...so you can't blame me for having a narrow perspective...

Sorry if things looked like that. Idea was to make a general picture about Amsoil claims having in mind their long time approach of not acquiring approvals just to confirm quality far, far below than particular oil has.

is a syncromesh transmision fluid similar to GM's and numerous oil manufacturers. It actually is very similar in viscosity, detergency, Zinc, phos, Timken, etc. as a 5W-40 Diesel engine oil.
