Highly Refined Mineral Oil with small amount of ester, rated API-SM, ACEA A3/B3, cost in Aus, is
$25-00 to $35-00 per 5 Litres. Quite a few Ford dealers us it as a workshop Oil. |

Hi there,
I am from Sydney, Australia. Normal temp. is around 10 degree C. to 25 degree C. of the city. I have Daihatsu Sirion 1 lt. auto-trans. +80,000 Km car and I have been using Castrol Magnatec 10W-40, which is Semi-Synthetic. I would like to shift to Fully Synthetic oil, please advise.....as I don't know much about oils. My next block retailer wants to sell Havoline Synthetic 10W-50 !! Thanks a lot. --Neil |

If I may as a Havoline distributor in Souther California.
Havoline is an actual "Synthetic" PAO. Wheras castrol is a highly refined mineral oil, good stuff, but not a true synthetic as such, such being a Poly Alpha Olefin. After a long and nasty legal battle, Castrol won the right to call a highly refined product a "Synthetic". Now Castrol has a very fine line of products. But if you want a true PAO go with Havoline or a qualified Mobil product. Forum members yell at me if I'm wrong |
