I am compiling a list of oil level sensors for Diesel engines and was wondering if anyone out there knows of some reputable companies that offer oil level sensors.

A few years ago we tried to setup oil level sensors in stationary engines. Finally we ended up modifying the oil system to pump oil out of the crankcase to a seperate sump and a pressure pump that pumped from their to the engine. That way we could read the pickup sump level when the level dropped below the air seperator baffles. This was for engines that run on their own with no chance for maintenance for long periods, up to a year. Anything less in reading oil levels
gave uncertain results. We needed to know exactly what was going on to predict future problems. The idea of putting an oil level sensor somewhere and reading a result just did not work. It would be worse for engines that move.
