Has anybody on this site involved with oil analysis - directly or indirectly, had any experience with Petro Canada's passenger car motor oils? Does anybody have an opinion based on experience, etc.?

I have an opinion based on experience .
They make a great oil , especially the 5w-40 but to get to the point I have seen two analysis's of their PCMO and they were just so so . The reason being they were of an engine of so so quality or condition . They are a top oil maker . My recommendation would be to try it in the engine you own and not try to compare analysis's of other engine makes or same engine . There are to many variables . |

Dear Friend,
I have gone through few case studies in earth moving equipments for their XL 15W 40 and it has worked fantastic. After 750 hrs. of running oil analysis show oil in a good condition and all parameters under control in comparision of earlier engine oil of a reputed brand of same API classification which was giving a drain interval of not more than 400 hrs. Petro Canada makes an excellent Group III base stock oil. It is probably one of the best base stock oils on the market today. I would even go so far as to say that is is somewhat better than synthetic PAO's due to the solubility of additives into is -vs- PAO's
