I plan to get a New Swift and will be running 40000km/annum. I also plan to keep 5 yrs. Synthetic or Dino oils? The service interval is 10k as per manufacturer. The usage is 50k non stop twice daily so 100km/day minimum.

Sounds like 4 oil changes a year with dino or 1 or 2 changes a year with an appropriate synthetic rated for long OCIs. With that kind of annual mileage, the synthetic route could save you a little time and money. Contrast that with choosing the dino route and avoiding possible warranty hassles.

The type of mileage is probably more important than the amount. Is the 100 km (62 mi) steady-state highway driving or lots of stop & go, idling in traffic, frequent hot starts, etc?

For single car owners, self driven cars in Asia (except China/Japan, Korea) recommend you choose between the Top 4 brands. ExxonMobil, Shell, BPCastrol, Caltex not necessarily in the order.

For commercial users, there is whole new world.

All my vehicles in India and Philippines, diesel or gas use Delvac or Delo. Even my genset gets those. I have a eleven year old off road vehicle with OM616 turbo running Delo/Delvac from first day. It has done 212000km without any engine service. I have a HONDA City with close to 300,000km with original engine.
