We want to start using our infrared camera for mechanical application such as steam traps, kiln dry, bearing, etc. There is not much information on what to look for. Does anyone know any good book on the subject or publications to subscribe to??

Thanks

I would recommend contacting your camera/software vendor as a starting place.

From there, contact Snell Infrared. They can steer you to the right publications. I do know that they offer "mechanical" applications specific training, as well. There are others out there that are indeed reputable that can help.

To get started, perhaps it would be useful to get your camera vendor to come to your site and help with a trial run of the components you have in mind, if they are qualified to do so. This might involve the least cost and they might provide a guide and other information, as well.

Good luck.

Another resource is EPRI's Infrared Users Group (IRUG). IRUG just had its annual conference in Minneapolis, MN (7/19 - 7/22). Next year, it will be held in New Orleans, LA 7/18 - 7/21/06. Lots of info, contacts, and resources.
