You could easily test it. Put a piece of clean sheet metal in a 5 gallon bucket and then place a cup with chain oil in it into the bucket. Now take your test paint in your paint gun and paint the piece of sheet metal. Cover the bucket with a towel and come back a couple of day's later and see if you have any orange peel or other problems.
I'm curious, have you been having problems that you think are due to chain oil? |

Micbial, Many automotive comapnies (i am aware of few in India) do require a Paint compatibility test done before using a chain oil in their paint shop overhead conveyor. They call it Crater test (i am not very sure of the spellings). I understand Benz also has does same test.

As per my understanding every OEM has their own standard procedure for testing paint compatibility. Some mix oil (few drops) & Paint and then use this mixture to paint vehicles, then see the quality of finish.
Others paint over surface contaminated with oil. U need to chk with specific OE for further details.I am not aware of any lab which does this test. Hope this clarifies ur query. |
