We are looking for a lubricant to prevent oxidation of unplated brass as it experiences rolling contact wear at an electrical interface transferring current. So we need both lubrication and current transfer without generating oxidation. Would a polyphenyl ether or fluorinated ether based lube do well? Is one better than the other?

Concerning electrical lubricant you can you several products :

* to lubricate : ester based greases, PFPE greases or PFPE dispersion.

* to protect : PFPE protective products (with PFPE solvant)

If you want more info contact me : lscaon@motul.fr

Best Regards

I think you can check out the Molykote website for some data on Molykote 41 semi-conductive grease. Based on silicon oil and carbon black, this grease is applied on ball and socket connections of insulators and knife type disconnect switches for its excellent oxidation resistance.

I reallize I am really late on this but I thot someone might be interested. There is a Canadian company making something called Stabilant 22 (www.stabilant.com) that we have found useful for non-arcing electrical contacts.

Cheers
