most chuck grease are a high moly grease >5% the chuck can be dis assembled to grease or some have a lube fitting with a plug that has to be removed befor greaseing. not a "normal" grease thing don on rebuild of when chuck "jaws" start to stick or they will not tighten.

The best I have see is to smear a white paste between the surfaces that tighten. Reason for protecting them is fretting corrosion given a contact metal-to-metal under vibration, and moist environment.

Typical problem in the chuck start with a dark or black discoloration and end up in not tightening since the metal surface corrodes.
