I was surpriesd to not see any reference to Borate EP gear oils such as Chevron's Ultra Gear in the Lube-Tips article March 29 on EP Oils and Worm Gears.
Any particular reason why they weren't brought up or recommended? |

Yeah we find Boron Based EP systems to be very good, there has always been a "phobia" with Borate EP Chemistry and Water,
But all Chemical EP lubricants are Hydrophillic, Water liking so no chemical EP lubricant can be exposed to water with out some type of lubricant or machine damage being caused, If the geardrive is kept dry as it should be then we ahve found Boron based chemistry slightly superior to conventional Chemical EP packages.
