My problem is- I work in a rolling steel mill. We roll billets and end product is wire rod. We just purchased a piece of equipment called a Billet Welder. Which instead of rolling one billet at a time we butt weld the billets together for continuous rolling. The specifications that were giving to me for the lubrication are-conductive paste, with very high temp. qualities. Daneli the one who manufactered the billet welder gave about 7 choices- every one was paste, with copper, silver or other type conductors, with solid lubrication such as moly, graphite , so on. the paste are in the nlgi range of about 2-3. we run it out of a automatic system which everything is plugging up and system is down all the time. The points we lube are roller bearings and alot of pins and bushings. very slow moving piece of equipment. as for the high temp. the paste go up to 2,000f but the actual temp. on the machine the highest around 400f at one point while the other 43 points get around 300f at the most. The reason for the conductive grease-the billet welder lets out about 6 volts per weld. welder could weld up to 1000 times per 24 hours. Does any one know of a grease with a 1 nlgi thats conductive that will run in the automatic system. having alot of problems with the distribution boxes plugging up. daneli I believe recommended the wrong lubricant.

any help would be great tranc 14 my email adress is

Yep. Molykote 41 Grease has carbon black and is conductive. Temp resistance is upto 550 deg F. It's a NLGI 2 grease with a worked penetration of 280. Should be easily pumpable in your centralised system. It's a silicone fluid thickened with carbon black, hence the grease is semi conductive. The volume resistivity is approx 500 ohms-cm. Since you have a slow moving equipment it should work fine and with a extreme temp resistance, you should also get a good relube interval.
