Does anybody have any strong feelings about the quality of the user interface included on their condition based monitoring system?
For example is the right information for making quick decisions readily available through the computer screens or alarms included with your condition based maintenance system? |

The oil analysis labs we have used have allowed us to set our own alarm limits, but I still would prefer to see all the analysi reports myself, just to see how a particular machine is trending.

No - the correct information isn't available for making the decisions. We have set alarm limits on our oil sampling and our vibration analysis. These are just guidelines. We have to take into account the trending history which is something that pre-set alarm limits don't do. Alarm limits are good if you have novices looking at the data. Other than that we have little use for them.

FTIR analysis, just like results of any other analysis can be used for condition monitoring, regardless if they are accessible over the web or not. The main thing is the ability of the user to interpret them correctly. It is an unrealistic expectation to think that the lab personnel would be able to give you the best advice and recommend the best remedial actions in all cases. They may be familiar with some general equipment operations, but cannot be expected to know particularities of each peace of equipment and operational conditions. In most cases consulting firms (like Noria) have broader knowledge of the industrial equipment than lab personnel, and can be of great help, if consulted, in understanding the welfare of the particular equipment. Personally, I usually don’t drive around to find my way to wherever I am going; I stop and ask for directions.

I don't know what you are lubricating, but our company, Mighty Lube Systematic is a supplier for lubrication needs specifically for conveyor type systems. We offer a range of products including lubrication, lubricators, and brush cleaners. We have a monitoring system that is the most advanced of any out there to control the lube equipment. It will give real-time, precise control and monitoring of all equipment. Full color graphs and charts give detail on lube applied and will even detect line speed and chain wear. Check us out! http://www.mightylube.com
