our company has used colored grease zerk caps to identify the frequency of lubrication. We prepare a map of each machine and on it visually point to each zerk. The physical zerk caps define how often the zerk needs greasing, the map is tabled to provide "standard" or amount of grease. We have a global color code.
I think this is a good practice. Now someone at one of our plants said that Noria does not recommend using grease zerk caps. Is this correct?

I believe they do recommend grease zerk caps when applicable. Below is an article they published.
