On mobile equipment a major source of contamination ingression is dirt ingression through the cylinder rod seals. I'm wondering if there has been any research done to try to quantify the amount of contamination that is brought in through a cylinder.
I'm think something like for a cylinder with x rod diameter and y stroke running in air that is contaminated with z amount of dirt the amount of dirt brought into the cylinder is....? I understand is will depend on cylinder seal design etc, but I would think there must have been some general research in this area. Anyone know of anything in this area? |

You might fare better on responses posting on the IFPS.org forum or eng-tips.com and try posting on the hydraulic forum there. tom
