Hemant,

The best modern way of recovering lube from used oil, or waste oil, spent oil. involves most modern process, of handing lube oil.

The Existin system used are:
1. Vacuum Distillation plus clay treatment.
2. Vacuum distillation plus chemical treatment.
3. Hydrogen pre-treatment plus vacuum distillation.

The economics of re-refining of LUBE oil involves most modern energy efficent technique, with maximum yield.

In India, they are not allowing re-refining of used industrial oils by the conventional method of acid and clay. The suggested methods are thin film or complete distillation. What are the technical difficulties involved in the above processes, and what will be the cost of refining using these options?

Please help someone if you have any suggestions on how i can knock out the black colour in used oil by any means apart from thin film distillation as i do not have the capital to install such a unit. Chemical extraction? anything?

Dear Juicy,

Normally the clay treatment improves colour and smell. In this instance, multistage clay treatment would certainly improve colour and odour.

TAN of hydraulic oil new should be always less than 1.
Our DNR Corp HYD oil68 has TAN of 0.00022 means if it gets mixed with metal working fluid than also it will not contaminate MWF.Hence life of MWF will increase drastically. In case of injection machines this oil will outperform because to reach tan of more than 1 it will take around 10000 hrs.
