Hi

You would have to match the lubricants additive package with the type of bearings in use,
the gear lubricant will be more polar than compressor lubricant so would tend to pick up water more than a compressor lubricant would, the high temperature of some compressors could activate a chemical EP package causing chemical wear,
In expensive plant items most likely better to use the correct lubricant because of the reactive EP package in Gear Lubricants.
