Assuming that you are talking about the poll that is on these message boards, I wonder how many of them just don't get around to changing their oil and let it go past 10K.

Seriously, I've read the Noria motor oil book it probably has a lot to do with it. Dr. Fitch describes how to extend oil changes safely.
