Hardy,

You need to measure the TAN of the new oil then the used oil to determine if the increase is excessive.
Also look at for any increases in viscosity and oxidation of old versus new.
Hydraulic oils can vary in the TAN value depending on if they are purely R&O type or zinc antiwear based.
