Synthetic motor oils have been on the market for many years. Most major oil companies have introduced their version of synthetic motor oil. All of these oils are blended using commercially available additive packages pre-approved for read across API certification. These additive packages are blended to produce the lowest possible cost oil that will pass the selected API certification requirements. This is the reason motor oils, including synthetics, are all very similar (EXCEPT ALISYN).

Well, since my disposable income has dwindled into the non-existent range for quite some time, I've been quite happy using Brad Penn products as of late for my lubrication needs. It is rather disheartening for a tinkerer like me though, as this product has come up in my searches before as a viable tryable product.

But alas...not at the present time, as since the oil spikes this past year, synthetics have unfortunately followed suit and raised there costs to the same extreme at this point, making once again, a gap between the two.

Also, in my undying urge to learn and understand more, I've discovered that the typical driver really doesn't need anything much more than a good group III product with a decent additive pack...no more, no less.
