Read our primer articles on Grease Guns and Oil Sight Glasses.

We have transformer, year of manufacture 1986. In manual book trafo I found list of transformer oil that offers i.e:
a. Esso Univolt (series 50 , N51 or 52)
b. Shell Diala (series B, BX, D or DX)
c. Fina Diekan (series 1500P or R2613P)
d. Technol US (series 3000 or 4000)

we loss the approval of transformer oil used in this trafo.
Any body knows if one of transformers oil above can mixed with Shell Diala B?

Dear Sianturi,

Mostly transformer oil is Napthenic base, and hopefully it will compatible between napthenic and napthenic.
But I recommend to check the compatibility test first before you mix between two different oil.

* Prepare 2 sample
Sample A : 100% of the existing oil
Sample B : 70% existing oil + 30% new oil

* heat @ 100 C for a week
* Check the BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE between these two samples. Sample B shall higher than sample A.
* You can check also the other properties: Viscosity, Total Insoluble and Total Acid Number.

Nurudin
