Dear All,

I have recently come accross the following application on a bitumen membrane impregnating machine (OEM: EUROLINE, Italy):
Roller bearings (FC 210/ FYH UCS 10)operating @ 270 C degree.
The temperature is estimated by the operator based on the fact that the machine is heated by heat-transfer oil that passes near the bearings at 270 C degree.
Since this temperature is critical even for PTFE+PFPE greases what alternative do you propose?
Does anyone else have any experience with this application?
Can you also recommend a heat-transfer oil to stand for this temperature in a closed system?

Thank you,

Ciprian

Low speed application.
Re-lubrication possible.
Teperature assesed by the operator, not measured. The equipment is not in use yet, it is brand new, and so is the plant, hence they have no experience.
The OEM has suggested Rocket Sylan grease/paste, a strange product, that i could only find on a strange italian web-site.
But I don't trust this product. http://www.chiovato.it/scheda_tecnica.html

Thank you for your interest,

Ciprian
Dear Ciprian,

I would suggest you to take a look at skf graph alloy bearing (ref the attached link) as you said the speed requirement is very minimum i hope it should work for you.

I Hope i can help you out to choose right bearing provided all the required data's are available.

Load - Radial/axial/combined
Speed
Temperature
Misalignment
Environment
Life expectancy
Space Limitation
Is Budget matter?
Lubration Schedule
Plain bearing acceptable.. etc..

Thanks

Hi Ciprian,

How many bearings does this impregnating have?

Are these bearings having the same temperature?

My experience was with Apron dryer- an oven. It has 2 pillow block (upper & lower), one is in the middle of the oven, the other is 1 meter away near the ceiling of the oven. We installed Memolub Automatic Lubricator (with distributor block)on both bearing but after 6 months the lower bearing breaksdown but the upper was OK. We change both bearings and again after several months the lower bearing breaksdown and the upper was OK. What we did was we installed another lubricator, we separate the tubing grease line, we increased the dosage on the lower bearing. The problem was solved. We conclude that in the middle is hotter and needs more grease.

Before they re greased manually, weekly interval and a monthly breakdown.

Your planning is good, (gathering ideas) you are prepared before problems occur.
