citgo ep460

I am new to lubrication so please forgive it seems like a dumb question I hvae search everywhere and can't find the answer.
I run a Koellman gearbox on my film extruder.
We run citgo ep460 in the gearcase. what is the optimum operating temperature for ep460. according to data sheet vis. cst at 40 deg.c
is 440 and at 100 deg. c it is 29.6.
we have oil coolers on our case but I think we may be cooling it too m uch. any advice would be appriciated.

Well in general cooler is better but I guess you can take anything to extremes. The only thing your going to run into if your cooling to much is most likely going to be slightly higher power consumption. The cooler the lubricating oil the thicker it's going to be. What temperature is the gear box running at?

They run from 95 to 105. If they get to 115
it goes on the radar as something we need to look at. water flow problem in the cooler etc.

That's probably a little excessive as it's around ambient air temperature on a summer day. It's not going to hurt anything but as I mentioned power consumption will be a higher since the oil will be thicker at the cooler temps.
