Read our primer articles on Desiccant Breathers and Oil Filter Carts.

Starting from a site where we do not have any lubricant colour coding or labelling system, is there any "Best" practice or good ideas that people have that can help me set up a standard for our site. If there exists a psuedo standard I can start from that would be much better than trying to reinvent the wheel. We are using the oil safe containers.

We also use Oil Safe containers for our dispensing of oils.
We have adopted the following colour coding system for the oil safe lid colours.

Storage - Dispensing Lid Colour / Oil Type
Yellow / Gear Oils
Red / Auto Transmission Oil
Blue / Hydraulic mineral oil
Green / Circulating Oil
Dark Green / Turbine Oil
Black / Spec. purpose synthetic oil
Orange / Transformer Oil
Purple / Machine Tool Table-way & Hydraulic Oil
Grey / Internal Combustion Engine Oil
Tan / Flushing Oil

We then label the appropiate product code onto the bottle indicating
Viscosity and Product name etc.
