CONTAMINTIION OF CH-4 OIL WITH COLORED SUBSTANCE

Recently i recieved used oil sample from our power generator CUMMINS 800KVA the oil is 15W40 CI-4 with 12 TBN When i examined it the color is redish black and TBN is 3 there is no significant change in viscosities Can some one comment on these results

Frnd,
i think its time that you top up with fresh oil.This low TBN should alwayz accompany with a higher TAN and higher oxidation .

SO GO ON FOR A OIL CHANGE OR TOP UP..!!

This happened only after 200Hrs ,And What about the color please notuce that there is no change in viscosity

we are using very low sulfur content deisel ,and we are using same oil in other typical unit and it is ok

Have you actually had a full analysis done on the sample or just viscosity and TBN? As hardy mentioned I would check additive levels. Color is somewhat meaningless especially in diesel engine oil due to soot contamination.
