Read our primer articles on Grease Guns and Oil Sight Glasses.

These are the same oils apart from the DTE 832 has more additives. One site i have been on is useing DTE 32 on its GE's and have no problems. At present where i am now we are using DTE 832. The 832 is for more rough/ harsh service. Can anyone tell me what the definition is of this service, or the problems i may come across if we switch to the straight light.

Andrew..

As per my humble knowledge in this feild; DTE-832 has been improved in EP (Extreme Pressure) resistance properties using non-zink additives, I beleive TCP, as an indication, you will not an increase in phosphate content while doing the elemental analysis. It is also well known to have good anti-oxidant additives in the blend.

Good luck..
Over the past ( till mid 90's) Turbine Oil for Steam Turbines mildly additivated with R&O (Rust & Oxidation inhibitor). After a series of lubrication failures an in-depth study revealed probable pump failure (Gear pumps).

Turbine manufacturers thereafter upgraded Turbine oil specs to include Antiwear package (non ZDDP).

The difference between DTE 32 and DTE 832 would be an FZG value of 8 to 12 in DTE 832, with other parameters being the similiar.
