Read our primer articles on Desiccant Breathers and Oil Filter Carts.

We have a sample from kress machines(slab hauler)which contains ecosafe fr-46. We have filtered down to one micron absolute and cannot get the ISO Code at 4 um down below ISO Range number 22. An on-line particle counter was used to measure as well as a light blockage laser particle counter in the lab to verify. Results were very similar at the 4 um size range. It doesn't appear to be air or the result of water contamination. We have other systems in our plant we have the same fluid and we can get 15/12/7 counts..something is up and we can't figure it out...any ideas anyone?

I would recommend running an spectrometer analysis for elements present. If you dont have in your lab, any oil lab will offer you this. Make sure to test a new unused oil as well and compare the results. You might have a contaminant present, like ie. silicon (as silicon grease or similar) that is registred as smaller particles in your apc.
Tx Mr. Hughes.
Yes we have already ran a spectrochemical (ICP-OES) of this sample...our silicon level was around 1.3 ppm. We also see very little sodium at 1.5 ppm. Copper at 27 ppm, zinc and iron at 7 ppm. We also ran a patch sample and didnt really see the equivalent of an ISO range number 22(4 micron size range) visible on the patch.
