Enerpac P-80

I have an Enerpac P-80 portable hydraulic hand pump. The Manual states to use only Enerpac Hydraulic Oil or the warranty will be voided...
I have 5 gallons of carquest aw 32 hydraulic fluid.
My question is will this work?
or do I have to shell out big bucks for Enerpac specific hydraulic oil?

You should not use the Carquest AW32 in this item. The Enerpac hydraulic fluid is rated for over 10,000 lbs while the Carquest AW32 is not recommended for loads over 1,000 lbs. The P-80 is rated for up to a 10,000 lbs load so I would stay with the recommended fluid on this one.

If you have time, inclination to investigate and about 250 ml available ( of both ) please send it across to any Petroleum Lab and have it analysed. Also ask the lab to run a test for compatibility.

If both have the same Viscosity of 32 cst at 40, and are compatible you are close to homing on to your Carquest AW 32 as an alternative.

The next act, would be to start topping (2 to 5%) at a time with the preferred Carquest AW 32

What is the quantity required? If 5 Lt or below just buy the OEM Hydraulic oil. It may be cheaper to buy a 5 Lt ( 1 Gal) than run the tests.
