Read our primer articles on High Mileage Oil, Synthetic Oil and Kinematic Viscosity

Hi All,
I am trying to find more information on diesel engine oil burn systems that can be fitted to off highway trucks used in coal mining. I am aware of the Cummins Centinel, OilMate, and "Reserve" systems.

I am looking for technical information on the "Reserve" system, i can't find anything on the net, or i'm not looking in the right place.

I am interested in use in off highway truck engines with approx 250L (60 USgal) sumps. I am told a daily make up rate of 30L per day (8 gal, 21 hr/day) is typical, but this seems high as the total volume of the sump would be replenished in about 8 days, and these days engine oils can handle a lot.

Also, doesn't that amount of oil burn increase valve and combustion chamber deposits? This is about a 1% mixture of the oil with the fuel.

Anybody help me, or refer me to someone?
