Read our primer articles on Desiccant Breathers and Oil Filter Carts.

I saw an older post that discusses Fyrquel contaminated with lube oil, currently my lab results say that i have a 2% contamination level in my EHC fluid. I am performing feed and bleed, but the real question is, does anyone know if it is possible to separate or clean the non-saponifiables out of the EHC Fluid? we believe we know where the contamination is occuring however we cannot shut down until 2014 to make the repair. Our contamination rate is ~1 gallon per day into 4000 gallon EHC System.

4000 gallon EHC reservoir? That must be one big unit. What's that on? I take it that this EHC is for a steam turbine control and stop valves.Never saw that occur in lots of years in mechanical maintenance on GE machines[Craig Generating Station Craig,Colorado]. Where do you think the turbine oil is getting into the EHC unit? I can't think of any cross-connection at all on our units. Any supplemental filtration equipment being used? What does Stauffer,Akzo,ICL whatever say? I know this post is dated, but I just recently started to look at Noria's sight.Still interested after sixteen years into retirement. Regards
I see you are probably get the cross from the seal between the EHC system and the lube oil system. I have seen this in some units like Kapstone in Roanoke rapids. If you need help Larry Sparks from Progress Energy (now Duke) said that he will help those that need it. To better answer you question about getting the fluid to separate I would contact Mark latunski fro American Chemical Tech or Dr. Wooten for a better answer.
