Gravimetric Oil Test

We are testing turbine oils by the Gravimetric test method as per ASTM D4898 by diluting with hexane and using a 0.3 micron membrane made from nitrocellulose, our man at the lab tells me that he gets a better result when he uses nylon, what should we be using ? And if it is nylon is it available in 0.3 micron.

It appears that this particulat test is not widely used to detect varnish in turbine oils.
