Petroleum gelly is being used on the terminal connections of batteries. It can prevent the acid salt formation on the terminals. But for modern maintenance free batteries, the problem is not common, hence it is not a must to use petroleum gelly.

I donot have any idea on the conductivity of grease

There are two different questions.
Look for anti-seize compounds with copper and graphite for conductivity.
Look for dielectric greases for insulation.
