Despite kidney loop filtering with a portable filter cart and 5 micron filter, we're still seeing high ferrous. This is a small 40 gallon reservoir w/PAG VG 32. ISO code is now 15/13/10, but still very high ferrous index at 160. 0 water, good chemistry, no contamination.
Could the ferrous particles just be so small they are passing through the filter? Is this even a problem with the particle count being pretty good? Thanks.

Hi Rusty, could you please pop back how the high ferrous reading is reported, eg: Fe ppm PQ etc, if PQ it's measured by conductivity so may not be actual wear, if FE ppm this is only measuring < 7 µm which could indicate the Fe is colloidal and not causing wear, the easiest way of checking for abnormal wear would be to complete a wear debris analysis but most likely once we understand how the "abnormality" is being reported to you we can figure from your info, regards
