OUR HT MOTOR WAS SENT FOR OVERHAULING OWING TO HIGH HORIZONTAL VIBRATION. WHEN NO-LOAD RUN OF MOTOR WAS TAKEN, HORIZONTAL VIBRATION OF 10 MM/SEC PEAK WAS OBSERVED. ON ALIGNMENT OF THE MOTOR WITH PUMP AND CONNECTION WITH COUPLING, ON-LOAD RUN WAS TAKEN AND HIGH HORIZONTAL VIBRATION OF 12 MM/SEC WAS OBSERVED ON DE SIDE OF BOTH PUMP & MOTOR. NDE SIDE VIBRATION OF BOTH PUMP AND MOTOR WAS BETWEEN 8-10 MM/SEC. PUMP NDE SIDE SPLIT BEARING (THRUST) TEMPERATURE ALSO SHOT UP TO 75 degC. CAN ANYONE HELP ME IN TROUBLESHOOTING THIS PROBLEM. MOTOR IS 510 kW, RPM-3000. PUMP-2980 RPM

Dear Arindam
Your motor no load condition vibration is high. You check the spectrum i,e wht are the peaks are there. Then you do one thing take the coast down of motor at decoupled condition for any electrical problem. If electrical & resonance problem is not there then you check the Horizonta to Vertical vibration phase angle it should be 90 +/- 30 at decoupled condition. Check for any soft footing by putting a dial gauge on each base bolt of the motor it should not be more than 0.04mm. Horizontal to Vertical phase difference is 90 +/- 30 then you go for balancing at decoupled condition. If possible send me the spectrum & phase angle of Motor & P/P DE , NDE brg.
