Shell and ExxonMobil (Esso merged with Mobil) are among the top two Oil majors and there may be little to differentiate between them in the product range. As both products will meet/exceed international specs and performance levels. The products mentioned by you are run-of-the-mill products,made by 100's of Oil companies. i.e. not specialities.

Purchase decision is based on networking, local distributor reach in different regions. On commercial terms too both may be similiar. If Shell is aggresive in Indonesia, they may quote a very competitive price but it may be different in Singapore.In your case the customer seek a ExxonMobil brand.
